Here’s a great discussion topic. We’ve spent hours discussing how cyber security threats could impact the supply chain, and yet, here we are with China being the epicentre of the Corona Virus forcing down the stock markets, disrupting distribution for global players like Nike etc, and no doubt forcing companies profit margins into the red because of their inability to meet supply and demand owing to travel embargo.
And…not a sniff of ransomware, malware, spyware, or malicious intent from any threat actor. To me, we have significantly lost our way here. To coin an English phrase
We’ve put all of our eggs in one basket
Put simply, we’ve been so engrossed in the security aspect of supply chain disruption, we haven’t even considered the impact of the Corona Virus on the economy. Whatever happened to traditional BCP and contingency planning ?
